Let’s Talk Prostate Cancer!

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, a time to help people learn about prostate cancer and give support to those in need. Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer among men. The good news is when caught early, treatment can slow or even stop cancer growth.

For men ages 45 to 69, with an average risk for prostate cancer, talk to your doctor about if prostate cancer testing is right for you. For men with a higher risk, such as African-American men or men with a family history of cancer, think about talking to your doctor as early as 40-54 years of age.

Prostate cancer screening is a personal choice. Talk to your doctor about your risk, including your personal and family history, as well as the risk of being tested.

Our Prostate Cancer Info Center is a great place to learn more. You can download free fact sheets and patient guides, read care blogs and listen to podcasts.

You can also check out this special issue of our patient magazine, UrologyHealth extra®, to learn more about how to navigate your prostate cancer journey.

Take control of your health during this month (and beyond) to help live your best life!
